With a combination of dreamlike synths and rhythmic drum beats, Candy Riot’s ‘Moonstar’ teleports you back to the 80s – you can’t help but tap your foot and groove along to their music. Each track provides a different feel and mood for the listener, all of which feel tranquil. For me, the paired vocals and harmonies are beautifully angelic and I believe they add a subtle magical essence to the tracks. The lyrics touch on all sorts of topics that resonated with me as I listened. I found that in my mind, the rhythms felt beautifully polyphonic yet still blending so well with the other parts of the track in a satisfying conclusion.

Who would you say are your biggest influences with your music?

We love words & vocals from Byrne, Bowie, and Gahan as they’ve narrated many of our musical memories.  And musical compositions by Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics and Vince Clark of Erasure excite us the most.

How did you all meet?

We wish there was a great story like “we met at The Grand Furry Convention of 2019!” but the truth is we were introduced by a mutual friend.

What made you decide to make music together and why this genre?

We had a fascination with the human experience and the desire to turn emotions into stories. Synth rock/pop is fun and makes you want to dance, and we play this music because we love the way it makes us feel.

What can we expect from you in the future?

We’re always dreaming and often writing so people can expect videos, a new album, and a damn good time.

If you could work with any artist on a feature track, who would you choose?

It would be so dreamy if Quincy Jones produced a track and Bob Clearmountain mixed it.
